Ioana Tomici

Ioana Tomici (she/her) is a media artist, editor and an avid listener/watcher/eater. She spends most of her time in between fields and disciplines, both through her educational training and through her professional practice(s). Ioana holds a Bachelor of Arts (2017) in Product Design from the Willem de Kooning Academy and a Master of Fine Art and Design(2021) from the Piet Zwart Institute’s Experimental Publishing department. Since the beginning of 2023, Ioana is the Erasmus University College’s RASL Dual Degree coordinator, where she happily applies her affinity for transdisciplinary forms of education and practice by supporting students and staff in their journey between disciplinary boundaries. Next to being RASL coordinator, Ioana also strives to focus on her own artistic editorial practice, and is part of Kunstinstituut Melly’s hospitality team.

Why do you work for RASL?

I became familiar with RASL a few years ago through some of its Dual Degree students, and I was immediately struck by the exciting educational implications it promises. As an individual who practices between and beyond fields, I’m eager to translate my experiences within the context of RASL. The need for quickly adapting to both scientific and artistic contexts is something I truly believe in, particularly when in comes to thinking through the complexity of current global issues and the high-velocity changes that the world is experiencing today. In this sense, RASL strikes me as a space which carries the potential to sensibly tackle the increasingly apparent entanglements of our time.
