Evert Hoogendoorn – IJsfontein
Evert Hoogendoorn is a strategist and game designer at IJsfontein Interactive Media. He has been part of the game industry for twenty years and was co-founder of the first game design program in Europe at the Utrecht School of the Arts.
At IJsfontein he develops games with a focus on healthcare, education and behavioural change. In the Health-domain he has worked on games for training professionals, treatment of patients and prevention, including abcdeSIM, which is the first accredited serious game for education of medical specialists in the Netherlands. He was strategist and gamedesigner on game about among others: PTSD, Depression, Delirium, Advanced life support, Healthy aging and Alzheimers
Working together with medical specialists from different universities and medical centres (Delft University, Free University Amsterdam, Erasmus Medical Centre Rotterdam, Medical Centre Groningen, Radboud University, Trimbos Institute) he is constantly looking for ways to better align the process of validation with the creative- and production strategies of games.
Evert Hoogendoorn has a background in education and theatre and combines his work at IJsfontein with the development of innovative educational solutions with the University of the Arts in Utrecht (HKU). There, he is program leader “ludodidactics” at HKU College.

“Creating applied games in a multidisciplinary team”
Erasmus University College
We will start off the workshop by sharing our experiences with merging game design, art and science. Subsequently, the workshop participants will experience the creative process first-hand by teaming up and creating a concept for a game that targets a societal challenge. The goal of the workshop is to gain insight into the process of designing a game in a multidisciplinary team and to identify possible pitfalls. We invite participants from all disciplines, including but not limited to game design, education, clinical practice and academia.
